Volunteer Opportunities
 

 

 

Each volunteer will have the opportunity to attend a volunteer orientation and all positions working directly with the homeless with have a close supervision component to ensure safety and self-sufficiency for our guests.  The Good Shepherd Alliance has four locations throughout the Loudoun community.  Volunteer positions include, but are not limited to:

 

Homeless Children’s Initiative - Working in after-school tutoring program for homeless youth.

 

Street Outreach – Hit the pavement by administering assistance to the homeless living on the street.

 

Family Life Counselor - Become a peer advisor to a homeless individual or family by developing a relationship and fostering self-sufficiency.

 

Leesburg - Drop In Center - Help our most distressed neighbors by meeting and administering help to those using this innovative facility.

 

The PR Team – Use those communication skills to speak about homelessness and poverty in the region by giving presentations to groups and individuals.

 

Event Planning – Love a party?  Help GSA plan events

 

Grounds Crew - Building/construction, on-site non-building support (mowing, painting, plumbing, and vehicle maintenance).

 

GSA University - Teachers to lead small classes in various classes, including financial counseling and life skills.

 

 Professionals : We need physicians, dentists, lawyers and crisis counselors to help support the children, women and families  at our facilities.

 

Technicians : We need painters, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, car mechanics, and landscapers to restore living spaces, vehicles and outdoor areas.

 

Technical Writers : We need people experienced with writing and developing grants, publications, brochures.

 

Administrative Support : We need administrative support people capable of typing, organizing paperwork, and answering telephones in Shelter Offices.

 

 

Thrift Store Support Staff : We need people to help with all aspects of the running of this very important area. Store Hours: Monday - Saturday 11AM-7PM.
